The top phobias of the world that begin with “B” include the following; bacteriophobia, basiphobia, bananaphobia, and bathophobia.

Bacteriophobia

Bacteriophobia is one of the top phobias of the world that begins with “B” which means the fear of germ. Another name of Bacterophobia is Germophobia or Mysophobia. First of all, let me tell you how the word Mysophobia was coined; Myso is a Greek word which means germs and the word Phobos means fear. Therefore, putting the two words together, we have Mysophobia. It means the fear of actually getting contaminated by microorganism or germs. Bacteriophages believe that the word ‘germs’ if ‘filthy’ as a result the phobia will set in. Due to this fear, they are always washing and sterilizing themselves every time even beyond normal cleanliness.

It’s very important here to put a clear line between normal cleanliness and being tidy. A normal clean and tidy individual will only concentrate on just cleaning the surface of a tool to make sure it is free from dust and dirt. But a Bacterophobes can go to the extent of sterilizing even a simple tool before use. The cost of a chemical or cleaning agent doesn’t really matter to them as far as they can get rid of microorganisms, they are OK! By so doing, they are exposing their skin and system to these harmful chemicals.

Too much of everything leads to disease.

Mysophobes doesn’t eat food or meal prepared by another hand. They prepare their own food by themselves before they can eat comfortably. Mysophobes may even fear to have a handshake with anybody if they do they will need to sterilize themselves. They can spend a whole day cleaning and washing without actually doing a tangible thing.

Mysophobes tend to be thinking of germs and contamination every time. Each time they fall sick, they believe that they are contaminated by bacteria.
